The worst time in life is when all of a sudden one doesn't have access to their dear one due to  sickness, imprisonment, migration or even death! Hundreds of questions remain unanswered  for an uncertain period of time.... one wonders and wonders with no respite. Life often continues with the support of friends and family so do the questions...

Can he see the sunshine,
can he hear the rain?
Can he remember the good times,
can he feel my pain?

Our walks by the river,
the heat and the sparse breeze!
From my childhood to my travels,
the stories that would never cease!

Does he remember my love for him
brimming through my eyes?
Does he remember the little girl,
who would only emerge by his side?

Does he remember the flowers,
he nurtured in the garden?
Does he know the leaves are changing,
and we are already in autumn?

Does the back of his shoulder,
still hurts every now and then?
Does he remember the warmth
of my massaging hand?

Does he remember singing in the choir,
and dancing in San Juan street,
all the photos he clicked of me
and the videos I made of him?

Does he remember the laughters,
the difficult times we conquered together,
and the collective conviction that
God had joined us forever...

Do you, Joe?

  1. Indescribably painfully but I hope cathartic. Keep expressing your love, your struggles and your optimism! xoxo
