Power to Heal
By Kim Scheurer
After the battles I have fought
My journey led me to Peer Support
At self-help groups, I became an "ear"
Motivated to give back to my peers
I have learned about trauma
And unresolved drama
While respecting many paths
And injecting many laughs
I learned how to be direct
But always with respect
Play-learning—this was lots of fun
I learned as we grew
That we truly are ALL ONE
Those who are wounded have
The power to heal
When you have "been there" you can "be real"
With these skills we can continue to cope
While always holding the Light
For each other of Hope
